What to Pack in your Camping Backpack

A backpack is a great item for all types of camping. Camping backpacks are usually bigger and more durable. They come in plenty of designs, sizes, styles and brand names and are made to handle all weather conditions and all types of wear and tear. Below we have listed the important necessities to pack on your next camping adventure.

For Overnight Hiking Trips

On an overnight hiking trek, whether up the mountain, or into the bush, you will most likely use your camping backpack to store everything. In fact, your entire campsite will, for the most part, be on your back. This is why it’s so critical that you pack wisely and pack everything!

First of all, start with the obvious- this includes clothes, socks, a warm jacket, shoes, a hat and sleeping wear. Then throw in an extra two pairs of socks just in case. Pack rain gear as well, especially if the weather looks touch and go.

Next, think about your sleeping needs- tent, mattress, sleeping bag, pillow perhaps?

Third of all, consider your food and drink necessities- a camping stove, cooking equipment, food, plenty of water and propane.

And finally, remember the essentials- a first aid kit, a lantern, flashlight, toilet paper, toothbrush, a garbage bag or two, a compass, sunscreen and of course, a camera to capture the memories. It’s completely possible to fit all this, and more, into a camping backpack. You just need to pack smart.

For Family Camping

When you are going camping for the week with your family, you are most likely bringing a car with all the equipment you need and thus, you will be carrying more than just your camping backpack. However, it’s a good idea to always store you additional clothes and blankets in your camping backpack to keep them dry and clean. Toiletries, books and magazines, sun screen, towels, extra shoes and any other leisure events can also be stored in a camping backpack. Other important items to bring include your sunglasses, flashlight (or two), a pack of cards and your camera.

And don’t forget the toilet paper!
