C is for Coleman; Coleman is for Camping- Coleman Lantern Model Types

Coleman is one of the leading names in camping equipment and this most certainly includes lanterns as well. After all, you can’t go camping with a fully functional lantern leading the way. Below we’ve addressed the most popular Coleman Lantern Model Types to help you make a more informed decision on the choice best suited for your camping needs.

The Fuel Starters

The traditional lanterns are the fuel starters which can be fueled by liquid gas or propane. You will need to pack a propane tank along with the lantern. Fuel filled Coleman lantern models are a lot brighter than the battery operators but they can also be more dangerous, especially around the kiddies. They can break easier; they can get extremely hot (which is great during the cold nights); and they should not be brought into a tent or anywhere where they could be knocked over. However, they also tend to be a little cheaper and offer than true blue camping atmosphere that batteries just cannot provide.

The Battery Operators

Many people are switching over to battery operated Coleman lantern models which feature rechargeable models, LED types and traditional battery operated models. These lanterns are easy to switch on and off and safer but they do not provide the extreme bright light, warmness and ‘camping feel’ that the traditional fuel Coleman lantern models do. The battery operators are better for the environment and are also made more durable. You can tote your battery operated Coleman lantern all over the place without worrying about starting a fire or breaking a plug. This is most certainly a plus, especially if you have small children.

Tips for all Coleman Lantern Model Types

If you are using a rechargeable battery lantern, you need to make sure it is fully charged when you go camping. Bring extra batteries for a non rechargeable battery lantern. If you are using a propane lantern, make sure you bring enough propane to last the entire trip. There is nothing worse than running out of light halfway through the night. Make sure this doesn’t happen to you by being prepared.
