Tips- How to Use FishFinders

First and foremost, a FishFinder is a type of radar integrated into the navigation system of a boat and it indicates depth and location of fish. If you plan on purchasing a FishFinder, you will probably want to consider price range first. Fish Finders can run anywhere from around $100 all the way up to $500, depending on the features included. Make sure that before you purchase your FishFinder, that the one you have your eye on has all of the features you want. Generally, beginners need fewer features than advanced fishers. If you are a beginner, it is best to start with a simpler model, unless you plan on making fishing a huge priority or business for you.

Many people use and enjoy LCD finders. Another option is CRT displays, which are very nice, but to use them you will need a boat with a lot of power. In addition, CRT finders cost a lot more and are seen as more of a luxury item in the world of FishFinders. An LCD will perform most of the same jobs and are recommended for a beginner fisherman- they are easy to operate and can be read in direct sunlight. Buyers also need to consider the frequency (or kHZ) that is expressed by the FishFinder.

If you are planning on fishing in large bodies or water, you will want a low frequency finder, whereas if you are mostly going to be out in smaller bodies of water, a high frequency finder will serve you best. Most fishermen are probably going to be okay with a mid to high range frequency finder, especially those who are planning on working in lakes and ponds. Other things to consider are the size of the display screen and display resolution, both of which really just come down to a personal preference.

It is important to remember that Fish Finders can increase the number of fish you catch by a large amount, so be cautious when choosing your finder. Buy the one that is perfectly suited to your needs, and do not simply pick out the cheapest or most advanced one.
