Don’t Lose Each other in the Woods – Kenwood two way radio and more

During any outdoor adventure that takes place in the woods, such as camping or hiking there is always the possibility of losing a member because they strayed off the trail or path or because they fell behind. Losing each other in the woods is one of the worst possible situations because the woods is an enormous place to be lost and sometimes it is hard to tell where you have been already, and where you haven’t. You could be walking in circles, because things tend to look the same in the woods. The best thing you could possibly do when taking on the woods is to be prepared, this means you need to be prepared for the worst case scenarios as well.

1. Give each member a compass

Each individual who is participating in the activity or adventure should be given a compass. Before you start off on your quest, determine where you are. If you have a set destination, determine which direction it is in. With a compass, the individual will be able to know whether they are walking in the right direction or the opposite direction. This will help each individual come out somewhere near where the set destination was, or meet up with others from the group by heading in the right direction.

2. Give each member a whistle

This is a traditional method, but it is one that can be trusted. Give each member of the group a whistle to put around their neck. If it would occur that any members become lost, then the member can blow on their whistle. When others hear the blowing of the whistle, they can blow back in to their whistle as a response. The noise will seem far away, but can lead you to each other. The louder it gets, the closer you are getting to each other.

3. Give each member a Kenwood Two Way Radio

Kenwood two way radios allow you to verbally communicate with other members in the group. If you become separated, you can talk to the other members. The best time to do this is when you first realize that you have separated from the other members. Kenwood two way radios are highly durable and dependable and are a great tool to use in the woods in order to keep track of each other.
