Solutions to Common Camping Problems- Mosquito Pest Control and More

Camping is all about getting back to nature. However, if you are not prepared, a weekend in the wilderness can easily turn from bad to worse. This is why we’ve outlined the four most common problems in camping and easy solutions to ensure your best camping trip remains a good one. From mosquito pest control to additional light resources, you will never be ill prepared again.

Rain

It happens- rain eventually will fall right smack dab in the middle of your camping trip. In fact, you should always plan for rain by packing additional rain gear and a tarp or two. Place a tarp underneath your tent, even on sunny days. Furthermore, bring a tarp to set up over your campsite. Make sure you choose a site that offers plenty of shade from the trees so you can tie the tarp to the different trees. And don’t forget the rope!

No campfire rule

During the really hot dry season and in some state parks, you may not be allowed to light a campfire. This has nothing to do with not wanting you to have and everything to do with your safety. If this is the case, you will need to pack an alternative lighting system. Make sure you pack an LED or propane fuelled campfire light that is strong enough to light up the table for an evening game of Monopoly.

Mosquitoes and Pest Control

Mosquitoes and other insects are an annoying aspect of camping. To avoid insect bites, invest in mosquito pest control. Mosquito pest control can come in a variety of different methods including candles, sprays and lotions as well as mosquito zappers, mosquito magnets and even mosquito netting if camping in the tropical rainforest area.

Too much gear!

You’ve heard of ‘packing light’ but you haven’t quite mastered the art of light packing quite yet. Instead of packing light, try packing the right things. Try track pants instead of sweat pants; try a fleece instead of a sweatshirt and a jacket; and try an easy dry towel instead of a bulky regular bath towel. All of these items are easier to pack but provide you with the same protection and warmth. If you are still finding it hard to pick and choose, use suction bags which can vacuum your clothes together for an easy storage system.
