The Truth about Mosquitoes (and How to Protect Your Family with Mosquito Control Propane)

Mosquitoes are annoying little bugs that pray on blood. They usually strike in wooded areas outdoors but have a habit of appearing during any outdoor adventure from a backyard barbeque to a picnic at the park. Mosquitoes can literally make your outdoor adventure a living nightmare as they terrorize our guests, biting their flesh and leaving itchy marks on their skin. However, as annoying as they are, mosquitoes also cause skin irritations and allergies and carry potentially fatal diseases in some areas.

The Scary Truth about Mosquitoes

They are annoying, yes, but they are also a big killer around the world. According to the World Health Organization, 500 million people are infected with mosquito-borne illnesses such as dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever and the West Nike virus every year. More than 2.5 million people die, many of them young children.

Mosquitoes and Malaria

One of the most commonly known diseases caused by mosquitoes is Malaria which is common in Southeast countries, especially in Asia. Malaria strikes your body and causes your entire body to weaken in flu like symptoms that get worse and worse. Without proper treatment, it’s possible to die from Malaria. While it is possible to take Malaria tablets to prevent this disease, there are other diseases that have not advanced to this level yet.

Apart from malaria, there are also two other diseases that can (and have) led to death- Dengue Fever, which is currently infecting tropical areas such as Asia and Australia, and the West Nile, which has infected people from all over the world including North America. Both start as flu like symptoms and come from mosquitoes. Dengue fever comes from mosquitoes with black and white legs that usually breed in stagnant water such as under pot plants and in gutters.

How to Protect your Family

There are several different mosquito protection measures you can take around the house or when camping. These include mosquito control propane, mosquito repellent, mosquito netting and mosquito zappers, all which can reduce the number of mosquitoes in your area. No matter what type of mosquito protection you choose, it’s important to prepare your family with the best mosquito control measures possible.
