All Natural Mosquito Repellent That You Can Find at Home

Looking for an alternative to chemical mosquito repellent? Then look no further. Whether you are tired of the harmful chemicals in mosquito repellent, are tired of the price tag that comes along with it, or are tired of the dried skin caused by the chemicals in mosquito repellent, there are many great natural mosquito repellent alternatives around the home. Just read on.

Vanilla and Water

Pure vanilla, which can be found at health food stores, is a great way to combat against mosquitoes and other insects. This natural mosquito repellent can be combined with water into a spray bottle. Not only does this natural mosquito repellent protect your family against mosquitoes, but it also emits a lovely cooking smell rather than harmful chemicals.

A Dash of Lavender Oil

The next time you take a trek into the wilderness, try dabbing your pulse points with lavender oil instead of carrying mosquito repellent up the mountain with you. Lavender oil smells wonderful but mosquitoes and other insects are completely repelled by it. It’s the best of both worlds- you can smell lovely and your skin can stay insect-free.

Cat Nip Mosquitoes in the Butt

Here is another natural mosquito repellent that will floor you- catnip. That’s right. That stuff your cap goes ape over also repels mosquitoes. To make your own catnip mosquito repellent, combine catnip, spearmint, pennyroyal and cover with apple cider vinegar. You can rub or spray on the concoction and keep the bugs from bugging you.

An All Natural Mixture for the Yard

If you are trying to keep the mosquitoes from breeding around your yard, then try mixing baby powder, flower of sulphur and cornstarch. Put it in a resealable bag, mix it and sprinkle it around the ground. This will keep the bugs away from your precious garden.

All of these natural mosquito repellents may seem a little wacky but they are certainly worth a try, especially if you are planning on visiting a mosquito-ridden area like the tropics, if you are allergic to mosquito bites or if you are tired of the harmful chemicals from traditional store bought mosquito sprays.
