Use Two Way Radios to Stay Together on your Camping Trip

When you start out on your outdoor adventure, or when you’re planning it, you never consider that something bad will happen. However, these days it is highly important that you consider these situations and plan for the situation just in case they would happen or else the whole trip could end up being extremely disastrous. You always plan to stay together during these types of trips, but somehow it always seems to go exactly opposite of that “stay together” plan. If you plan for these types of situations, then they do not have to be that difficult to resolve. You just have to make sure that you plan for them, and here is how you can do so:

1. Supply each member with an emergency kit

Emergency kits should contain basic first aid contents, and distress signaling items such as flares or air horns. Providing each individual with these kits will allow them to treat any injuries that they may have acquired, and also call or signal for help by using the air horn which sends an extremely loud horn noise through the area and the flare sends up light.

2. Provide each member with a Whistle

This method may be a little out dated, but it is one method that you can always count on. Providing each member with a whistle allows you to track and find lost members by the sound of the whistle. If they are far away, the sound will be low, and the closer you get to each other the louder the whistles will get. The sound of the whistles will allow you to go in the direction that the noise is coming from and find each other.

3. Verbally Communicate

Yelling loudly may not work if your lost deep in the woods, but two way radios will. Supply each member of the group who is participating with two way radios. That way each member can keep in contact. Make sure before you all set off on your excursion that everyone is on the same frequency and that there is a back up channel just in case. Two way radios are great for communicating while you are out in the woods.
