GSI Camp Kitchens Vs. The Coleman Outfitter Camp Kitchen

How convenient is an outdoor kitchen for your cooking needs – especially when you have a pop up camper or travel trailer without a kitchen? The GSI Gourmet Camp Kitchen and the Coleman Outfitter Camp Kitchen are two bestselling models to consider. Which is the better buy? We offer comparisons between the two below.

Features of the GSI Camp Kitchen

The GSI Gourmet Camp Kitchen features a complete cooking center, with two cutting boards, two sinks, a water faucet, hanging racks, a wire utility shelf, and a heat and corrosion proof steel wire cooking surface. The double sink has a pressurized water faucet and waste collection system, which connects to a foot pump and drain with folding containers for waste. Legs are adjustable and allow for leveling between .75 and 20 millimeters.

A wire for hanging or drying hangs over the sink, while a wire rack storage shelf is contained under the sink. The wire rack cooking surfaces attach in six different positions, and five more can be purchased in addition to the one included, at $40.00 each. Best of all, the entire gourmet kitchen folds compactly and is easy to carry around, at just 26.5 pounds, and with measurements of 44 x 24.5 x 33. While the GSI Camp Gourmet Kitchen is listed at $160.00 some online vendors discount it to $129.52. Click here to see GSI Camp Kitchens at auction prices on Ebay >>

Features of the Coleman Outfitter Camping Kitchen

The Coleman Outfitter Camp Kitchen is more expensive at a listed price of $199.99. Does it have extra features that redeem the higher price? The Coleman Outfitter Camp Kitchen starts with a rust-resistant aluminum frame with heavy duty channel extruded aluminum for more strength, and supporting leg braced, which makes it much firmer than the GSI Gourmet Kitchen. The side extender shelf holds a Coleman stove, but stoves are sold separately.

This “full” unit also includes a paper towel holder, chrome-plated wire hooks and extra shelving, and a removable sink with drain plug and hose. This camp kitchen does not contain a faucet, and falls one sink short of the GSI Gourmet Kitchen. Advantages include convenient storage, with a carry handle and rugged storage bag, and game boards on the lid with included checkers and backgammon pieces. If you're looking for something solid the Coleman Camp Kitchen is impressive, but the GSI Gourmet Camp Kitchen seems to offer more features for a lower price.
