CAMPING TABLES

Do you have to bring your own table when you go camping? Not usually. Every campsite in established campgrounds has a table with benches. Sometimes they’re just fine, but sometimes they’re wobbly or splintery or inconveniently located, like under a wasps’ nest. If you want to be sure of a good, clean table when you’re camping, there are scads of portable, lightweight, folding tables you can easily pack up and bring along. They come in all shapes and numerous sizes. Read on below for more details.

Folding Camping Tables

You’re probably thinking that you’ve never seen a camp table that doesn’t fold. But there are different ways they fold. There are the aluminum ones where the legs or supports fold up under the table top, which folds in half and latches together. Then there’s a newer style with a table top consisting of narrow slats of aluminum. The folding leg assembly detaches completely to be rolled up in the top and the whole bundle fits into a stuff sack. This style comes in round, square, and rectangular shapes. One particularly nifty table has telescoping legs so you can raise it for dinner prep and cooking and lower it for eating. Or if the ground isn’t level, you can adjust the legs to fit so that the top stays level.

Plastic Camping Tables

Plastic can make a good camping table top if it’s paired with aluminum or steel frames and legs. Most plastic just isn’t sturdy enough on its own to support a table. If you want to go with a plastic table top, try PicnicTime’s folding picnic table. This aluminum-framed set includes four integrated seats and comes in four colors.

Camping Tables With Seats

Table and seat sets for camping come in two basic styles. Some tables come with integrated stools, like Cabela’s aluminum set; the whole thing folds up together for portability. The other popular style is a table with two separate benches. These offer versatility—you can use the benches alone—and compactness—the folded benches are held inside the table top by the table’s folded legs.
