FOLDING CAMP CHAIRS

While you probably wouldn’t think of taking any chair that doesn’t fold up on a camping trip, some fold up more than others. What we’re talking about here are the ones that collapse into a more or less cylindrical shape and fit into a carrying sack. This style of folding chair is enormously popular; they’re inexpensive, convenient, and can be found almost anywhere. Sporting goods stores, department stores, drug and grocery stores all carry them, at least on a seasonal basis. However, quality varies and it’s a good idea to check carefully before purchase.

Coleman Folding Chairs

Coleman is a leader in camping equipment, so of course they offer several lines of folding chairs. There are the Oversize Quad chairs with coolers and the high-back sling chairs. The Broadband and XL Broadband chairs have seats and backs of either Diamond Ripstop or Textaline mesh, and some come with drink holders, coolers, or sunshades. Colors range from charcoal and khaki to bright red and yellow. In case you want to put your feet up, there’s even a folding footstool, which can also fill in as a table or an extra seat.

Kids Folding Chairs

Sure, the kids can sit in the big chairs. However, kids love having things sized just for them, and a kid-sized chair actually is more comfortable for a kid, which means they’ll stay put a little longer. Coleman offers a youth quad chair that comes in three prints: petals, animal tracks, and a nifty glow-in-the-dark constellation theme. Other kids camping chairs include one from Cabela’s in a camouflage print, and a great variety of character-print chairs including Dora the Explorer, Hannah Montana, and SpongeBob SquarePants, a personal favorite.

Heavy-Duty Folding Chairs

Heavy-duty folding camp chairs are pretty much like the regular versions, except stronger. Some chairs in this category are oversized and hold more than 300 pounds, but heavy-duty also means long lasting. They feature stronger tubing in the frame and extra-strength fabrics for seats and backs. All the joints are designed to be flexible and strong and capable of taking a lot of use.
