Rolling coolers come in all sizes and shapes. Capacities range from 16 to 100 quarts. Colors run the gamut from red, white, and blue to pink, black, and camo. Some are soft-sided while others have the latest technology in durable, insulating outer shells. And speaking of latest technology, there are even rolling coolers with built-in sound systems including an MP3 dock. Whatever your needs and preferences, you’re sure to find something that works just right.
California Innovations is a leading manufacturer of soft-sided insulated bags, one of which is the Collapsible Rolling Cooler with Jumpsack and All-terrain Cart. Despite its rather long name, this cooler has a compact base unit that can hold up to 40 cans. High-density thermal insulation keeps the contents cool while the antimicrobial, leak-proof lining keeps them healthy. Outside, the two-wheeled cart has a telescoping handle. A pocket on the lid of the cooler contains an attached jumpsack good for carrying towels and other supplies. When not in use, the cooler folds in half for easy storage.
Soft-sided, collapsible, wheeled, insulated coolers come in dozens of models. These coolers are lightweight with polyester or nylon shells and liners, which are sometimes removable. They fold down for storage; telescoping handles are standard, and wheel assemblies are light and, on some models, detachable. The most popular sizes hold 30 to 40 12-ounce cans and feature one or more outside pockets. A word of caution: When using a soft-sided cooler avoid placing anything inside that can puncture or tear the lining, such as a bottle opener or other utensils. And remember it’s not intended to keep perishables safely cold for long periods.
This is a durable, rolling cooler that you can take just about anywhere. It has a capacity of 70 quarts, or 114 12-ounce cans, and will keep it all cold for up to five days with proper ice management. It’s also deep enough to hold a two-liter bottle upright. There’s a sturdy tow-handle and reinforced side handles for carrying.
